2018 Ducati Monster 821 launched at INR 9.51 lakhs

Ducati India has launched the 2018 Ducati Monster 821 in the country at an introductory price of INR 9.51 lakhs, ex-showroom, pan-India. The introductory price is valid till the end of 2018.

The bookings for the 2018 Ducati Monster 821 are now open and deliveries will start by the first week of June across all Ducati dealerships in Delhi – NCR; Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi & Kolkata. Ducati had discontinued the earlier generation Monster 821 due to the non-compliance of BS-IV emission norms. Compared to the earlier generation bike, the 2018 model comes with styling and mechanical changes as well.

The motorcycle features a fully redesigned tank and tail, an all-new exhaust and headlight. The design draws inspiration from the Monster 1200; and the Monster 821 pays homage to the legacy of the Monster 900, which over 25 years ago revolutionised the naked motorcycle segment. Also making its debut on the new Monster 821 is the colour TFT display with gear indicator, and fuel level. The motorcycle is available in Ducati Yellow, Ducati Red and Black.

The new Monster 821 has been designed with the aim of creating a slim and a sporty motorcycle which highlights the original concept of “Sport Naked” and gives maximum riding pleasure.

Powering the 2018 Monster is an 821cc Testastretta L-twin engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The BS-IV compliant engine generates 108.7 PS of power at 9,250 rpm; and 86 Nm of torque at 7,750 rpm. The engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The Monster 821 also features the Ducati Safety Pack as standard. It comprises of Bosch 9.1MP ABS system and Ducati Traction Control, both of which have adjustable intervention levels. The Power Modes help adjusting the maximum power and throttle response. Riding Modes allow easy adjustment of ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Power Modes, letting riders have three different personalities in their motorcycle.

Brakes include dual 320 mm discs and M4-32 monobloc radial callipers up front. The rear gets 245 mm disc. The motorcycle rides on 43 mm upside down front fork and a rear monoshock with spring preload adjustment. The wheels are shod with a Pirelli Diablo Rosso III 120/70 tyre on the front and 180/55 on the rear. The Kawasaki Z900 is one of the primary rivals of this motorcycle.
