Special price for first 20,000 customers of 2018 Honda Amaze - Report

The launch of the 2018 Honda Amaze is scheduled to take place on May 16. Bookings are already underway and according to ET Auto, the compact sedan will be sold to the first 20,000 customers at a special introductory price.

Interested customers can pre-book the Honda Amaze at dealerships across India by depositing INR 21,000.

Speaking to the publication, Rajesh Goel, Senior Vice President & Director, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., said - 

The response to the all-new Honda Amaze since its world premiere at the Auto Expo has been overwhelming. As a special gesture to all the Honda loyalists, who are booking the car even before knowing the price and variant details, we have decided to offer a special introductory price for the initial 20,000 bookings.

Honda will offer the second generation Amaze in four grades - E, S, V, and VX. In its range topping VX configuration, the car will feature DIGIPAD 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto And Apple CarPlay support, automatic air conditioning, engine start/stop button, request sensor for keyless entry, electrically adjustable and electric folding ORVM, LED position lamps, rear parking sensors with camera, fog lamps, and alloy wheels. Honda will not offer the CVT variants in the range-topping VX grade or the base E grade.

Customers have the option of choosing either a 1.2 L i-VTEC petrol or a 1.5 L i-DTEC diesel engine. 5-speed manual and CVT options are available with both. The petrol variant has a power out of 90 PS and 110 Nm, while the diesel engine develops 100 PS (manual)/80 PS (CVT) and 200 Nm (manual)/160 Nm (CVT). Overall fuel consumption stands at 19.5 km/l for the petrol manual and 19.0 km/l for the petrol automatic variant. The diesel manual and automatic versions return 27.4 km/l and 23.8 km/l respectively.

The introduction of a diesel CVT variant is a first for Honda and the Indian market. It will rival the Maruti Dzire diesel AMT and VW Ameo diesel AT (DSG).

HCIL will manufacture the 2018 Honda Amaze at their Tapukara, Rajasthan plant. Prices are expected to start from INR 5.70-6.00 lakhs for the entry-level petrol grade. Honda will continue its rivalry with Maruti's Dzire, Hyundai's Xcent, Ford's Aspire, VW's Ameo, and Tata's Tigor and Zest with the launch of the second generation Amaze.
