Hero MotoCorp unveiled the Xtreme 200R in January, this year.

The brand is reportedly focussing on the premium segment, especially where the price of the products is up to INR 1 lakh (core premium segment for the brand). Malo Le Masson, head – global product planning, Hero MotoCorp said:

If you look at the premium market in India, 70 percent is below INR 100,000. So this is why first we are concentrating on bringing the Xtreme 200R and the XPulse 200. We are looking first at this segment because from a volume standpoint, this is the biggest.

The Hero Xtreme 200R is likely to enter the market in the months ahead. The Hero XPulse will be launched in the festive season this year, as per the company. Both bikes could be priced under INR 1 lakh, ex-showroom. The media house reports that the Karizma is also likely to come back in a new avatar. The Hero Karizma range was discontinued as it was not upgraded to BS IV compliance. The official website still lists the Hero Karizma ZMR, but the bike is no longer available at dealerships. Dr Markus Braunsperger, CTO, Hero MotoCorp reveals:

To do it right, we really have to focus and do it the right way. From this perspective I agree with you, but we need to concentrate on what is really right because the segment has moved. We need to talk about performance, about the style of the bike but we really have to explore to get the right ingredients.
