Ford Freestyle launch postponed to April 26 - Report

According to a report from earlier this month, Ford had planned to launch the Freestyle on April 18. However, CarToq, citing dealership sources, says that the launch of the Ford Freestyle will now take place on April 26.

Based on the Figo hatchback, the Ford Freestyle several cosmetic enhancements including revised from and rear bumpers, grille with black mesh, tweaked headlamp and tail lamp clusters, body cladding, roof rails, and 15-inch alloy wheels. It remains a sub-4 m offering measuring 3,954 mm long. The Freestyle is 1,737 mm wide, 1,570 mm tall, and rides on a 2,490 mm wheelbase.

Engine options include a new 1.2 L 3-cylinder petrol with 96 PS and 120 Nm on tap. ARAI certified fuel consumption stands at 19.0 km/l overall. Diesel variants get the same engine as the Figo/Aspire/EcoSport - 1.5 L TDCi unit developing 100 PS and 215 Nm. It returns 24.4 km/l overall as per ARAI. Both engines are paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

There will be four grades to choose from – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium+. Safety features like ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, and rear fog lamps are standard across the range. Titanium+, which is the range-topping trim, gets side and curtain airbags, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, Ford MyKey, SYNC3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and Active Rollover Prevention with Hill Launch Assist, Traction control, and ESP.

The Ford Freestyle is likely to carry a starting price of under INR 6 lakhs (ex-showroom). Its primary rivals in India will be the Hyundai i20 Active, Mahindra XUV500, and Toyota Etios Cross.
