According to Autocar India’s report, the bookings have commenced unofficially for the BMW G 310 R and the BMW G 310 GS at dealerships in Chennai, Kerala and Pune.
Autocar reports that the token amount for both bikes in the three dealerships is INR 50,000. As per the dealers, the G 310 R will reportedly cost INR 3 lakhs, on-road; and the G 310 GS will carry a premium of INR 50,000 over the price of the G 310 R. The bikes will enter the market in June or July, this year, and deliveries will commence post-launch, according to the dealers.
Both the BMW G 310 R and The BMW G 310 GS are manufactured in TVS’ Hosur plant in Tamil Nadu. When launched, the two motorcycles will rival the KTM 390 Duke and the Royal Enfield Himalayan respectively. The G 310 GS made its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. Both the motorcycles share the same 313 cc single cylinder mill with fuel injection and liquid cooling. The powerplant is good for 34 PS at 9,500 rpm, and 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm for the two bikes.
Apart from the GS-centric design, the G 310 GS also features longer travel suspension than the G 310 R, and dual-purpose tyres for better off-road capability. Both motorcycles feature front and rear discs with dual-channel ABS as standard.
