Just last month, Nissan India President Thomas Kuehl had suggested that the Nissan Kicks will arrive in India soon. Now, a report from Overdrive says that the company has postponed the SUV's launch as it's still working on localising it.

Nissan India will follow Renault's path of implementing a dual-spec platform strategy for its Hyundai Creta rival. While the global Nissan Kicks is underpinned by the V platform, the Indian-spec Nissan Kicks will ride on the low-cost B0 platform. It may have the same design as that of the global Nissan Kicks.

The Indian-spec Nissan Kicks may use the same duo of four-cylinder engines in Indian-spec Renault Captur: 1.5L H4K petrol and 1.5L K9K diesel. The petrol engine produces 106 PS and 142 Nm of torque. The diesel engine develops 110 PS and 240 Nm of torque. Nissan India may offer the petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission and a continuously variable transmission. A 6-speed manual transmission is expected as standard in the diesel engine model. There's no word on the availability of a 4WD system.

In addition to the Nissan Kicks, Nissan India is evaluating premium SUVs like the Nissan X-Trail, Nissan Pathfinder and Nissan Patrol. The company may also want to consider the Nissan Terra designed to battle with the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Isuzu MU-X.
