As reported this week, the 2018 Maruti Swift has already racked up more than 1 lakh bookings. Bookings for the hatchback commenced on January 18, 2018. The Swift took 10 weeks to achieve the feat, which translates to a booking every minute.
Speaking to Business Standard, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (marketing & sales), Maruti Suzuki said -
Some of our recent bestsellers - the new Dzire and Baleno - had done exceedingly well but we did not achieve this landmark (1,00,000 bookings) in such a short span of the launch.
Thanks to the high demand, the Maruti Swift currently commands a waiting period of 3-4 months depending on the variant. A recent report revealed that around 15% of all sales come from AMT variants. Additionally, the styling of the hatchback has emerged as its biggest selling point with 1 in 4 customers putting their money down because of its charm.

Customers can choose from a total of 12 configurations. There are two engines to choose from – 1.2 L K12 Petrol and 1.3 L DDiS Diesel. Both enginesare available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMT. According to ARAI, the Maruti Swift petrol returns a mileage of 22 km/l while the diesel variant returns 28.4 km/l.
