As reported earlier this month, Mahindra will showcase a convertible SUV concept at the 2018 Auto Expo starting February 7 onwards. The concept has been christened Mahindra Stinger and is reportedly based on a ladder frame platform.
The company has, reportedly, used the Mahindra TUV300’s ladder-frame chassis for the Mahindra convertible SUV concept. However, based on the teaser, the concept will not borrow from the TUV300 in terms of design. The likelihood of the concept reaching production stage is very low.
In all probability, the Mahindra convertible SUV concept measures under four metres in length. If a production version does get launched, it will classify as a small car and will be eligible for the tax benefits that accompany. Under the hood, the convertible SUV concept may have a version of the company’s existing engines. An upgraded version of the 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 101 hp and 240 Nm of torque is in the works. Mahindra could employ this new version in the convertible SUV concept.

Aside from the Mahindra Stinger convertible SUV concept, Mahindra will showcase its version of the Ssangyong Rexton and at least two EV concepts. A production version of the U321 MPV and the 2018 XUV500 facelift may also be present at the event.
