Harley-Davidson has applied for trademark for the name ‘H-D Revelation’. The name will be used for components of the brand’s upcoming electric motorcycle project. Motorcycle.com reports that the American brand filed for the trademark at the U.S. Patent Trademark Office.

The Project Livewire had 74 PS of power and 70 Nm of torque output.

The trademark is for powertrains (electric drives, transmissions), chargers and batteries. However, the trademark is not for the motorcycle model’s name. So, expect the finished product to carry a different name. This development comes in just after the brand’s plans to introduce an electric motorcycle within 18 months.

Harley-Davidson already had a tryst with electric motorcycles before. The brand’s Project Livewire made its global debut in June, 2014. The bike is a futuristic take on Harley’s design philosophy with an exposed chassis, monoshock rear suspension, LED headlights and taillights and a fully digital instrument console. The riding position is sportier than the traditional Harleys too. But the bike never made it to the production line.

Expect the upcoming electric motorcycle to have a different output when compared to the Livewire.

The website reveals that the company filed for the application on the 15th of this month, and the U.S. Patent Trademark Office is yet to approve. The suffix ‘H-D’ reportedly emphasizes on its difference from another brand, Revelation Choppers. Their trademark, however, is not valid anymore. Harley’s latest trademark name is also reminiscent of its Revolution-X engines that power the Harley-Davidson Street range.
