Made in India electric superbike in the works - Report

Emflux Motors, a start-up from Bengaluru is working on a high-performance electric bike which offers performance equivalent to a middleweight motorcycle.

Varun Mittal is the CEO and Co-founder of the company, and it has a 22-member team working on the bike's development. CarandBike reports that the bike will have a top speed of 170 kmph, and can sprint to 100 kmph in 3.5 seconds. The claimed range is 200 km, and the battery takes 36 minutes to reach 80 percent charge. The company plans to showcase the prototype, currently called Model 1, at the 2018 Auto Expo in February. As per the media site, the design, chassis and the drivetrain are all developed in-house. Emflux is currently testing the prototype and intends to finish the product by the end of June 2017.

The Model 1 will be a faired motorcycle; and the company is also planning to introduce Model 1 in the future. It will be a naked version, with two ranges: 150 km, and a 220 km range variant. Another upcoming product, Model 3 would be a power cruiser with superior specifications when compared to Model 1. The company intends to make a limited batch of 200 motorcycles of Model 1, and is likely to price the bike at INR 5 lakh.
