The Benelli 402S has made its global debut at the 2017 EICMA show in Milan, Italy.

The Benelli 402S has an uncanny resemblance to Ducati’s powercruiser, the XDiavel. The raked out front fork; brushed metal finish on the headlamp cowl and radiator guard; muscular tank, and the stubby tail are similar to the Ducati. The chiselled seat, forward-set footpegs, and the easy-reach handlebars ensure a comfortable, laid-back riding position. The tiny pillion seat is suitable only for short rides, and is devoid of grab rails as well. The lighting system is all-LED.

A 399.3cc inline 2-cylinder DOHC engine nestles inside the steel trellis frame. The liquid cooled engine punches out 39.4 PS of power at 9,000 rpm; and 35 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The Euro 4 engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed transmission and a final chain drive.

Coming to the suspension bits, the motorcycle employs 41 mm upside down front fork, and a preload adjustable rear monoshock. The 17-inch alloy wheels are shod with 120-section front and a 160-section rear Pirelli tyres. The 402S comes to halt using dual 260 mm front and a single 240 mm rear petal disc. The brakes have twin channel ABS as well.

The fuel tank can hold 16 litres of juice and the motorcycle weighs 160 kg, kerb. The claimed mileage stands at 23.8 km/l. Benelli will launch the motorcycle in the European market in mid-2018. There are no plans for the Italian manufacturer to launch the bike in our country, as of now. If it does, the bike would be a worthy competitor to the Bajaj Dominar 400.
