The G310R is likely to come to the country first, followed by the G310 GS.

Dimitris Raptis, BMW Motorrad Asia, China, Pacific and South Africa sales has communicated this development. It was earlier reported that the Bavarian bike builder will not be launching the G310R this year. It was because the retail infrastructure is yet to be in place. Currently, BMW Motorrad’s dealer network spans to Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. As per Overdrive, dealerships in Delhi, Chennai and Kochin will be opened by the end of this year. For 2018, the network will grow to Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Kolkata.

The G310R features top-notch cycle parts like upside down front fork; rear monoshock; radial calliper in the front disc; LCD instrumentation, and ABS as standard. Powering the BMW G310R is a 313 cc single cylinder mill which mates with a 6-speed gearbox. The liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine churns out 34 bhp of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.

The BMW G310 GS employs the same engine, but comes with longer travel suspension for extra ground clearance. At 169.5 kg kerb, the bike is 11 kg heavier than its naked counterpart. When BMW launches the bikes, the G310R will rival with KTM 390 Duke and Kawasaki Z250. The current primary competitor of the G310 GS is the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The German brand says that the G310R will be priced in the 390 Duke’s price region (expected to be around INR 2.3 lakhs, ex-showroom).
