The Intruder 150 would be Suzuki's first affordable cruiser in India.

The budget cruiser segment was dominated by Royal Enfield motorcycles, but after Bajaj launched the Avenger 150, the segment became even more accessible to the cash-conscious masses. Suzuki aims to exploit this segment with its upcoming offering. Here's a list of five things that we know about this upcoming motorcycle.

  • Suzuki has borrowed design elements from the Suzuki Intruder M1800R for this motorcycle. The design of the inverted triangular headlight flows well with the fuel tank extensions. The engine cowl adds visual mass at the bottom.
  • The rider and the pillion seat are separate. The wide handlebars and the low seat offer a laid-back riding position, which is ideal for cruising. The pillion seat features split grab rails on the sides.
  • The engine is likely the Gixxer’s 154 cc single-cylinder SOHC mill. In the Gixxer, it makes 14.8 PS of power at 8,000 rpm, and 14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm; pairing with a 5-speed gearbox. Expect Suzuki to tune this engine for more low-end torque for this motorcycle. The kickstart seems to be absent on this bike.
  • The frame looks like a single downtube unit, like the Gixxer. Telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear hold the frame. The alloy wheels and tyres look identical to the one found in the naked bike.
  • Coming to the brakes, the Suzuki Intruder 150 uses disc brakes for both the wheels. There is an ‘ABS’ sticker on the front fender. It is likely that the ABS unit will be a single channel version, like the one in the Gixxer SF.

The bike shares its mechanical underpinnings with the Gixxer.

Suzuki is likely to price the bike at a premium of INR 10,000 - 12,000 over the Suzuki Gixxer SF ABS. The carburetted Gixxer SF ABS costs 95,499, ex-showroom, Delhi. Once the Suzuki Intruder 150 is launched in November, its chief competitor would be the Bajaj Avenger 150.
