Ahead of its launch in Argentina, the Renault Kwid was recently spied sans-camouflage during its final testing, courtesy Argentina Autoblog. Renault Argentina has already put up a page for registering interest for the car on its local website.
The Renault Kwid that will sell in Argentina is the Latin American version with beefed up safety. It is heavier than the Indian version due to structural reinforcements for increased safety. Renault Argentina says that in comparison to the version sold in other regions, its version has body structure largely reinforced by protection bars in the doors and high strength axles around the passenger compartment. 80% of the parts are new, specially developed by Renault Technologies Americas for Latin America.
Argentina gets the Kwid with the 1.0-litre SCe engine. The three-cylinder petrol unit produces 66 cv (66 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 92 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission sends power to the wheels. The car will have ABS, ISOFIX anchorages and four airbags as standard. In the base configuration, it weighs 780 kg.

The Renault Kwid, the first CMF-A platform-based car, will go on sale in Argentina by the end of the year. Argentina will source it from Ayrton Senna Complex located in Sao Jose dos Pinhais, Brazil.
