BMW unveiled the BMW Concept X7 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this month. Illustrator Shoeb Kalania has created a rendering of the production BMW X7 based on it.

Production BMW X7 front three quarters rendering
The BMW X7 will share the CLAR rear-wheel-drive platform with the BMW 7 Series & BMW 5 Series.

The BMW Concept X7 looks close to production, and accordingly, the rendering previews minor exterior changes in the production BMW X7. Changes include slightly revised kidney grille, enlarged headlamps, fitment of LED fog lights on the top of the air vents and conventional central air intake, production car mirrors and door handles and deletion of the chrome strip on the A-pillar and the "i" badge on the charging port lid (like on the BMW X5 xDrive40e).

The BMW X7 will share the CLAR rear-wheel-drive platform with the BMW 7 Series and BMW 5 Series. Like in the 7 Series, BMW will likely use carbon-fibre in the body as a weight reduction measure. The full-size SUV should come in V6 and V12 flavours. The variant lineup is likely the xDrive30i, xDrive40i and xDrive50i and xDrive30d, xDrive40d and xDrive50d. A plug-in hybrid iPerformance model could join the range in Phase II, and an M Performance model with a V12 petrol engine cannot be ruled out either.

The BMW X7's production will commence at the Spartanburg plant in South Carolina, USA in late 2018. Knudt Flor, President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing Co, announced this in June. Customer deliveries could commence by early 2019. The new flagship BMW SUV, or SAV, as BMW calls it, will compete with the Mercedes GLS, Range Rover, Lexus LX, Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator.
