A Carscoops reader has spotted a pre-production Audi Q8 test mule in Moscow, Russia. This particular test mule lacks any cammo wrapping, thus revealing the final design we will see in 2018.

The Q8 will be Audi Q series' new flagship, but the car is a strict five-seater.

From what we can tell, the styling will closely mirror the Q8 concept from the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. It is one of the two Audis we know which will feature an octagonal grille - other being the Q2 - flanked by Matrix LED headlamps similar to the new A8. The bumpers are aggressively styled with large air inlets, the roof slopes to form a dynamic shape, and it will be just over 5m long. However, the car is a strict five-seater.

Audi's latest design philosophy will also influence the interior design, as seen in their new range of MLB-based cars. Expect a floating, width-enhancing dashboard wrapped in leather and adorned with a variety of trim options, the A8’s new MMI system combined Virtual Cockpit and semi-autonomous driving systems. Audi claims that they have not skimped on practicality, even going as far as saying that it will be best-in-class.

Engine options could include a base 2.0L 4-cyl turbo petrol, 3.0 V6 supercharged petrol and a 3.0L V6 TDI diesel. A range-topping RS-Q8 with a 4.0L twin turbo V8 and plug-in hybrid variants are also on the cards. Transmission options could include an 8-speed Tiptronic and 7-Speed S-Tronic, while Audi's Quattro is likely to be standard fitment.
