After the launch of new variants of the Bajaj Pulsar, Bajaj Platina and Bajaj CT 100, the V brand could be the next to get attention.

It is speculated that the bike will get new colours by this festive season.

S Ravikumar, President, Business Development of Bajaj Auto has confirmed in an interaction with CNBC TV18 stating:

Good product action is planned for Platina and V. These volume products will all be in place well before the festive. These things will help propel the (sales) numbers.

To get to 26% market share from the current 20%, Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto, said last month that the company plans new variants of all 7 brands by December.

Expect Bajaj to launch a new variant of either the V12 or the V15, most likely in the form of new colours. The USP of the V series is that the bikes share the same metal as the legendary aircraft carrier, the INS Vikrant, thereby giving them a patriotic connect.

The Bajaj V12, launched in January, is the most affordable of the variants and is equipped with a 124.5cc SOHC engine that generates 10.7 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 10.9 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The V15 on the other hand comes with a bigger, 149.5cc engine that is good for 12 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 12.7 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm.

The launch of the new variant will help Bajaj put the V back in the spotlight.

For suspension, the V12 uses a 30 mm front telescopic fork while the V15 uses a fatter 33 mm front fork. Twin Nitrox suspension does duty on both the bikes for the rear end. While the V15 comes with a front disc brake as standard, it is optional for the V12 from May. Both bikes use 130 mm drum at the rear.
