Gurugram is notorious for its traffic congestion, especially because of its close proximity to the country’s capital city. After the nifty bike taxis, the city is all set to get motorcycles equipped with fire-fighting equipment for faster reaction times, states a report from the Times Of India.

According to the media brand’s sources, the fire stations of the city will get customised Royal Enfield Bullets for the job, and firemen will sport backpack-fitted fire extinguishing kits with first-aid kit and oxygen masks. The bikes will be equipped with two 15-litre water tanks as well. The authorities are considering the technicalities and the bikes will be pressed into service by the end of the month.

The previous year, Mumbai tested a customised Royal Enfield Himalayan to fight fires. This gives them an added advantage for quicker response times and could potentially be life-saving.

The Royal Enfield Bullet ES employs a single cylinder air-cooled 346 cc engine that makes about 19.8 bhp of power at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. A five-speed gearbox transmits the power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. For suspension, the bike uses telescopic forks at the front and dual gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. The bike uses a 280 mm front disc and a 153 mm rear drum brake for anchorage.
