Maruti silently replacing steering assembly in 2017 Maruti Dzire - Report

Deliveries halted till the cars get the new steering assembly.

According to Team-BHP, Maruti is replacing the electric steering assembly of the 2017 Maruti Dzire sold thus far. Deliveries of new examples are currently halted across all dealerships till the steering assembly has been replaced, and Maruti could issue a recall to customers who have already taken delivery of the Dzire.

Manufacturers in India now openly issue recalls to replace suspected items that may have a chance of being ineffective or defective. In the case of the Dzire, all units in the factory are also being equipped with the new steering assembly, before heading to their respective dealerships, reports Team-BHP.

The new Dzire was launched last month at prices ranging between INR 5.45 lakh and INR 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). So far, Maruti has received well over 44,000 bookings for the Dzire since they were open several days before the launch.

The new Dzire is available in LXi/LDi, VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+, and there are two engine options available: a 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine that makes 61 kW (81.77 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm, and a 1.3 DDiS 190 turbodiesel engine with 55 kW (73.73 hp) at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Transmission choices in both variants include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed automated manual. It can average a fuel mileage of  22.0 km/L (petrol) and 28.4 km/l (diesel).
