Dzire will remain under 4m, even for export markets.

Speaking to IndianAutosBlog at the launch of the new Dzire, Maruti Suzuki's Head of R&D Mr CV Raman has revealed that there will not be a sedan over 4 meters based off the Dzire, even for export markets.

There will not be a sedan over 4 meters based on the Maruti Dzire's HEARTECT platform, as imagined in our rendering.

Mr Raman was quoted saying:

The focus is a lot on India, and what is the requirement of the Indian market, we should be able to meet that. Indian consumer requirement is an entry level sedan, and that's what we have here. We also have the Maruti Ciaz, which is a premium option for people to upgrade to.

For now, the only sedan on the HEARTECT platform in India is the new Dzire, which is launched at prices ranging between INR 5.45 Lakhs – INR 9.41 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It is available with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder VVT petrol engine or 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDiS turbodiesel engine, respectively. Both variants come with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AGS (AMT) and can average a fuel mileage of 22 km/l (petrol) and 28.40 km/l (diesel).

Maruti already has the Ciaz sedan to cater to demand in the premium segments.

So far, Maruti has already received over 33,000 bookings since it was opened last month. New buyers will have an 8-week waiting period for their new Dzire, which could increase in the coming weeks. Export markets such as Africa, Middle East and LATAM could receive it as a Suzuki from later this year, we reckon.
