The all-new Suzuki Swift is based on the same platform as the Suzuki Baleno and the 2017 Maruti Dzire.

The 2017 Suzuki Swift is the company's latest attempt at the sub-compact hatchback segment after the Suzuki Baleno in 2015. The fourth generation Swift rides on a new lightweight and rigid platform called 'Heartect'. This is the same platform that underpins the Baleno, and it's 30 kg lighter than the previous generation model's platform.

The all-new Suzuki Swift measures 3,840 mm in length, 1,735 mm in width and 1,495 mm/1,520 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm. Featuring an evolutionary design, the supermini is now 20 mm shorter, 40 mm wider and 15 mm lower, and has a 20 mm longer wheelbase. The generation leap has seen the hatchback, now made exclusively in 5-door form, dropping a substantial 120 kg in weight.

The 2017 Suzuki Swift is offered in the international markets with the K12C 1.2-litre Dualjet naturally aspirated four-cylinder and the K10C 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engines. Customers in other markets can opt these engines with a mild-hybrid system, but in Mexico, local media reports say the fuel-sipper is unlikely to come. The petrol engines are available with a continuously variable transmission, a 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. European markets and Japan also offer an all-wheel drive option.
