Will debut in Europe on 18 May 2017.

The Skoda Yeti is set to be replaced by a new SUV named 'Skoda Karoq' this year. YouTube channel Euroman Driver has published a spy video of the new compact SUV that was spotted in recently in the Czech Republic with little disguise.

The Skoda Karoq looks like a shortened Skoda Kodiaq from the outside. Its profile, up to the C-pillar, is notably close in design to the Seat Ateca's.

From the C-pillar, the Karoq looks like its big brother Kodiaq, and that continues all the way to the rear bumper. Skoda is offering a rather conventionally designed model that would appeal to the masses, even outside Europe.

The Skoda Karoq rides on the MQB platform shared with the VW Tiguan, Seat Ateca, Skoda Kodiaq and many more models from the Volkswagen Group. Skoda may offer it with a mix of three- and four-cylinder TSI petrol and four-cylinder TDI diesel engines with displacements ranging from 1.0- to 2.0-litre. Transmission choices may include 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. An optional all-wheel drive system is a given.

The Skoda Karoq is said to have its world premiere in Stockholm, Sweden on 18 May 2017 and sales could commence in Europe in the second half of 2017.

With the VW Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq confirmed for India, the Volkswagen Group's interest in bringing a third model in the small premium SUV segment of India remains a question. The decision would depend on how well these models perform in the market.
