The Mercedes Concept X-Class has two design variants, one targeted at urban buyers who seek comfort and luxury from their pickup and the other targeted at those looking for a pickup with unmatched toughness, strength, utility and off-road capability for some serious trucking. The concept version is made in double cab body style, and the production version won't have an option for single cab body style.

The Mercedes X-Class will ride on the same ladder-frame platform as the Nissan Navara and Renault Alaskan. The cooperation with the Renault-Nissan Alliance further extends to production as well. Europe, South Africa and Australia will get their version from the Nissan plant in Barcelona, where production will start this year itself. Latin American markets will get their version from the Renault plant in Cordoba, Argentina, where production will start at a later stage.

The Mercedes X-Class' engine range will include four-cylinder petrol and V6 diesel engines among other possible options. The top-of-the-line model, powered by the V6 diesel engine, will get the 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system. The production version won't look as luxurious as the concept, but the quality of construction will make it stand-out among the competitors.
