20 percent of Bajaj Dominar buyers own a Royal Enfield - Report

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is significantly loaded with technology in comparison Royal Enfield’s products.

Bajaj Auto has revealed that their present flagship, the Bajaj Dominar 400, is a hit amongst Royal Enfield riders. Speaking to Business Standard, Mr Eric Vas, President, Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto, said that the number is as high as 20 percent.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is selling around 3,000 units a month and out of 10 customers, 2 have owned Royal Enfield motorcycles. Mr Vas said

We have already overtaken Royal Enfield in the segment. They used to sell an average of 5,000 units a month until a few months ago. Some have sold it to buy Dominar and some have bought it as their second bike

Bajaj currently retails the Bajaj Dominar 400 in 32 cities and the number will be raised to 100 dealerships by the end of the month and to 200 by April 2017. The company believes that if the production capacity is increased sales volumes will also increase.

Bajaj Auto aims to increase the volume to 6,000 Dominars a month from the next financial year and onward to 10,000 units a month by September, with help from export markets.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 is powered by a 373 cc mill which is capable of producing 35 PS of maximum power and 35 Nm of peak torque.

The Bajaj Dominar 400 has been priced at INR 1.36 lakhs for the non-ABS model and INR 1.50 lakhs for the ABS trim.
