Suzuki Ignis to be launched in Nepal in March 2017

Will compete with the Mahindra KUV100.

The Maruti Ignis was launched in India last month and has already become a popular seller in the country with over 10,000 units already booked. According to a report from The Himalayan Times, the Ignis is expected to hit the dealerships in Nepal by the end of March 2017, making the mountain nation one of its first export markets.

Speaking to the local publication, Karan Chaudhary, Executive Director, CG MotoCorp, said that the Suzuki Ignis with a high ground clearance of 180 mm is perfect for the Nepali roads, and it will compete with the Mahindra KUV100, Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo. The pricing is yet to be decided.

The Suzuki Ignis measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,690 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,435 mm and a boot space of 260 litres. The Suzuki Ignis will likely be available with the 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 61 kW (81.77 hp) at 6,000 and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm and the 1.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which develops 55.2 kW (73.99 hp) at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission should be standard, while an AMT option may be offered on the top of that.

The Suzuki Ignis should be offered with a 61 kW (81.77 hp) 1.2-litre petrol and a 55.2 kW (73.99 hp) 1.3-litre diesel engine.

LED projector headlamps, daytime running lights, 15-inch black alloy wheels, dual-tone dashboard, engine push-start button, remote keyless entry, electrically foldable and adjustable exterior mirrors, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchorages are some of the key features of the Ignis.
