Confirmed to launch globally in 2017.

After the Skoda Kodiaq, the next SUV from Skoda will be the second generation Skoda Yeti. The new generation model is currently under development and is confirmed to launch this year. In the latest, the 2018 Skoda Yeti has been spied testing in China, disguised to look a Geely Boyue, courtesy autohome.com.cn.

Moving to its second generation, the Skoda Kodiaq will adopt a more conventional design to look like a proper SUV. From the outside, it could look mostly like a VW Tiguan with unique front and rear fascias with a design inspired by the Skoda Vision S concept. The interior would be in line with the Kodiaq.

The second-gen Skoda Yeti will be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform. The model will have a lot of mechanical commonality with the VW Tiguan and the Seat Ateca.

Speculating based on options available in these two models, the 2018 Skoda Yeti should to be offered with three- and four-cylinder TSI petrol and four-cylinder TDI diesel engines with displacements ranging from 1.0- to 2.0-litre. 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-cutch should be the transmission choices. An all-wheel drive system would be available in the configurations.

The current Skoda Yeti is sold in India in very small numbers, and while it would seem logical for the next-gen model to follow, there hasn't been any confirmation yet.
