The fourth-gen Mercedes A-Class (codename: Mercedes W177) will have two digital displays, one being the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. Mercedes S-Class' dashboard pictured.

The next-gen Mercedes A-Class' test mule still had its interior under covers, but the two digital displays, one being the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system, as well as the redesigned steering wheel, have been revealed now. It seems Mercedes-Benz is incorporating its new family interior even its smallest car. The dual display setup won't be standard, with the lower-end models getting a conventional instrument panel with analogue gauges. The steering wheel may have touch-sensitive control buttons.

The fourth-gen Mercedes A-Class (codename: Mercedes W177) will be underpinned by a new version of the MFA front-wheel drive platform named 'MFA2'. It will be created around the new company's new design language for small cars that was teased by the 'Aesthetics A' sculpture. The luxury hatchback will see increments in length and wheelbase to offer more space.

The current Mercedes A-Class is offered with a variety of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines having displacements from 1.5- to 2.1-litre. While some of these may continue on the fourth generation, it has been reported that a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine is under development. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz is interested in developing a three-cylinder diesel engine, and there's speak of a plug-in hybrid powertrain as well. The AMG division may have an A 43 model planned, positioned below the A 45 that will continue with performance upgrades.
