IAB reader spots the 2017 Mercedes E Class L ahead of Indian launch
Aravind Jayachandran, I'm a huge petrolhead, an automobile engineer, a massive fan of Ferrari, and loves collecting die-cast models for inspiration.
To launch for sale on February 28.
An IAB reader has sent a couple of images featuring the 2017 Mercedes E-Class L interior, ahead of its confirmed launch on February 28 in India – the first market to get the RHD E-Class L (LWB).
Unlike the interior of another E-Class L we have come across, this particular model has an all black interior with black wood trim, black leather upholstery, and contrasted by silver and chrome accents. This suggests that Mercedes will offer the option of two interior colour combinations: a dual-tone beige and black colour combo with beige seat upholstery, and the all-black interior as described above.
Being the long-wheelbase version, Mercedes India will bank on rear seat space and creature comforts to lure target buyers who would mostly prefer being chauffeured and appreciate the acres of legroom at the back. While the 12-inch COMAND infotainment system is standard in the E-Class, the India-spec model only gets the standard instrument cluster, instead of a 12-inch driver’s display offered in other markets.
The 2017 Mercedes E-Class L will launch in E 200 petrol and E 350 d variants. The E 200 packs a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine developing 135 kW and 300 Nm of torque, while the E 350 d has a 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder diesel engine tuned to produce 190 kW and 620 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission as standard, which sends power to the rear wheels.
