The 2017 Yamaha R3 is powered by the same 321 cc in-line, twin-cylinder mill capable of producing 42 PS of maximum power and 29.6 Nm of peak torque.

The powertrain is the same 321 cc in-line twin cylinder mill coupled to a 6 speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 42 PS of maximum power at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm. The Yamaha R3 gets 41 mm telescopic forks by KYB up front and a mono shock in the rear by the same brand.

The brakes include a 298 mm disc in the front and a 220 mm unit in the rear. The added benefit of ABS will not only help in reducing the stopping distance but also protect the rider during treacherous riding conditions by preventing wheel lock-up. India, however, still misses out on ABS.

The graphics and stickers draw inspiration from the new Yamaha R6 and give a fresher appeal to the Yamaha R3. The 2017 Yamaha R3 will be available in the US from March 2017.
