Vios for ASEAN markets to get visual updates and equipment revisions.

Last week, the Honda City welcomed its mid-life facelift in Thailand, tomorrow it is going to be competitor Toyota Vios which will enjoy the spotlight. Toyota Motor Thailand has confirmed via a teaser that the 2017 Toyota Vios will be introduced in the country tomorrow.

Toyota Vios 2017 teaser
The Thai-spec facelifted Toyota Vios's visual changes in this teaser are no different from the Chinese-spec facelifted Toyota Vios that launched last year.

Almost confirmed at this point is that the Thai-spec facelifted Toyota Vios will follow the design recipe of the latest Chinese-spec Toyota Vios. The Chinese-spec Vios features new projector headlights with chrome C-shaped accent, new upper grille and centred brand logo, Camry-inspired hexagonal lower grille with fog lamps at outer ends, vertical LED daytime running lights, modified bumpers, new tailgate applique and tweaked taillights.

Earlier this month, reports said that the 2017 Toyota Vios sees changes to the instrument cluster, HVAC vents and infotainment system and that the cabin will have a black theme. The Vios J and Vios E will feature fabric upholstery. The Vios G will have a padded dashboard, and the Vios S will have leather upholstery, and both models come equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a reversing camera.

The Toyota Vios received substantial revisions in the powertrain department last year, so expect no changes in this aspect. The 2NR-FBE 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i unit that produces 108 hp at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm should be the standard engine. Also standard should be a continuously variable transmission which replaced the old 4-speed automatic transmission last year.

The 2017 Toyota Vios may not have any changes related to the engine and transmission.

In India, the facelifted Honda City's launch is just around the corner, while the Toyota Vios's launch plan is unclear.
