Likely to be the 5-Speed AGS from the Maruti Swift Dzire.

According to GaadiWaadi's sources, the Maruti Ignis diesel variant will be available with an AMT option at launch. It is likely to be the 5-Speed AGS unit from the Maruti Swift Dzire diesel.

The AMT in Ignis diesel is likely to be the 5-Speed AGS unit from the Maruti Swift Dzire diesel (pictured).

The diesel variant packs a 1.3L DDiS 4-cyl engine which produces 75 PS of power at 4,000 rpm and 190 Nm of peak torque at 2,000 rpm. While a 5-speed manual is standard from the base variant, the 5-speed AGS could be offered in top-end grades. It's not yet confirmed whether the Ignis diesel will get Maruti's SHVS mild hybrid system from Ciaz. The Ignis will be the second Maruti in the range to feature a diesel automatic powertrain.

Also available is a 1.2L K12B 4-cyl petrol engine that outputs 84.3 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. Maruti could consider an AGS option for the petrol variant as well, given that the Ignis is pitched as an urban city runabout and its target audience would appreciate the clutch-less convenience.

The Maruti Ignis will launch for sale on January 13, 2017. Maruti has already dropped the first teaser of the compact crossover on its NEXA website, affirming that it will be sold through its premium line of dealerships alongside the Maruti S-Cross and Maruti Baleno.
