Naked street fighter version of the Yamaha R3 sports bike spotted testing.

Bunny Punia has spotted what appears to be the much anticipated Yamaha MT-03 testing on Indian roads for the first time. Reports have said that the MT-03 will not come to India, but these spyshots add a new twist to this tale.

The MT-03 was reported to launch in India this year, but a report said the model was cancelled.

Unveiled at the EICMA 2015, the Yamaha MT-03 measures 2,090 mm in length, 745 mm in width and 1,035 mm in height, has a wheelbase of 1,380 mm, a ground clearance of 160 mm and seat height of 780 mm. The styling does borrow some cues from the Yamaha R3, for instance the part analogue, part digital instrument cluster and rear end

The MT-03 is powered by the same 321 cc liquid-cooled in-line two-cylinder engine that powers the R3. It produces 30.9 kW (42 PS) at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 rpm, and sends torque via a 6-speed transmission.

The Yamaha MT-03, if localized, would be less expensive than the YZF-R3, which is priced at INR 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will rival other street fighters like the Benelli TNT300, Kawasaki Z250 and the upcoming BMW G310R.
