If so, it seems to feature an evolutionary exterior design.

Carplace uploaded spyshots of what is alleged to be the next generation VW Gol's clay model nearly two years ago, which was dismissed by VW as a design study. However, by comparing spyshots of the 2017 VW Polo test mules and the clay model, it appears that the next gen compact hatch will look similar to the latter.

The design is an evolutionary step up from the current model, with a stronger shoulder line, sharper edges and similar styling touches to the latest VW models. The Euro-spec VW Polo will grow in size, with reports suggesting that it will measure 4.17 m. Wheelbase will be extended to increase interior space, while boot volume will go up increasing the car's practicality. The VW Polo will be the least expensive product to ride on the MQB platform (MQB A0 to be precise), which is expected to bring a weight saving of 70 kg.

The engine lineup is expected to include a wide range of petrol TSI and diesel TDI engines, which includes a 70 hp 1.0L TSI three cylinder unit, 1,2L TSI three cylinder, 1.4L four cylinder TSI, while a 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine is likely to serve as the sole diesel option.

As for its launch in India, Volkswagen India is currently working on getting the price right, given the fact that the next gen VW Polo is expected to be more expensive. European deliveries of the new Polo could commence in H2 2017, and the Indian launch a year after.
