To go on sale in North America before the end of this year.

According to Autocar UK, the 2017 Honda CR-V will not launch in Europe until late 2017 or 2018, while it arrives in showrooms across North America before the end of this year.

For Europe, Honda stated that the fifth generation CR-V will be manufactured and exported from Honda of Canada's Alliston manufacturing facility; however, this month it said that the plan had been reversed and the plant will only cater to demand from North American markets, which is apparently “greater-than-anticipated”. In its current 4th gen guise, the Euro-spec Honda CR-V is manufactured at Honda U.K's plant in Swindon.

The 2017 Honda CR-V made its world debut at the 2016 Los Angeles Motor Show this month, featuring an evolutionary exterior and interior design. It has been noticeably extended by two inches (50.8 mm) to increase cabin space. New exterior features in the CR-V include signature Honda LED headlights (Touring trim) with wing-shaped LED DRLs, Honda-first Active Shutter Grille to lower aerodynamic drag, new aluminum-forged alloy wheels, narrower A-pillars, Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate and plenty of chrome garnish.

For the interior, Honda has put focus on refining practicality, build quality and the features list. It has a new soft-touch instrument panel, more intricately stitched seats, a color TFT driver information interface (DII) center meter display, new multi-function steering wheel, physical volume knob, a 7-inch touchscreen Display Audio interface with Android operating system, Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, remote engine start, dual-zone climate controls, heated side mirrors and Electric Parking Brake (EPB). It is claimed to offer top-in-class interior space and best rear seat legroom in its class.

Another highlight is the option of a turbocharged engine for the first time, which is a 1.5L DOHC turbo engine from the Honda Civic paired with a CVT, producing 190 hp and 179 lb-ft of peak torque. The U.K-spec Honda CR-V could also offer the 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel unit when it launches next year.
