Gets cosmetic updates and new features on the inside.

According to a report on Autocar India, the 2017 Audi A3 Sedan (facelift), when launched in India in February 2017, will swap its predecessor’s 1.8-liter TFSI engine for a downsized 1.4-liter TFSI engine. The 1.4-liter TFSI unit is what powers the 2016 Audi A4 which was launched in the country in September this year.

The Audi A3 Sedan can now be had with optional Matrix LED headlights in Europe, but India is likely to get only the regular LED headlights.

The 1.4-liter TFSI unit delivers 150 hp and 250 Nm, whereas the 1.8-liter TFSI generates 180 hp and 250 Nm of torque. Despite the engine downsizing, the A3 Sedan facelift will continue with the 7-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch transmission, but is expected to be more fuel efficient than the current model which returns 16.6 km/l (ARAI-tested).

The publication reports that with the engine downsizing, Audi will also lower the prices of the A3 petrol to an expected sub-25 lakhs pricetag. The diesel variant will continue with the 2.0-liter TDI unit, also paired to a 7-speed DSG.
