Patent images of the VW T-Cross Breeze surface online

Design language will influence the upcoming Polo-based crossover.

Motor.es has uploaded patent images of the VW T-Cross Breeze concept, which previews a new design direction for VW. It was unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show last March.

The T-Cross Breeze is confirmed to go into production as the Polo-based crossover, which is expected to arrive by the end of the decade. The management hasn't completely dismissed the idea of a convertible version, as previewed by the concept, but for now only the 5-door Polo crossover is green lit for production. The styling of the Polo-based crossover is claimed to be close to the T-Cross Breeze concept.

It will ride on the shortest version of the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform – MQB A0. Reports state that the overall length of the VW Polo-based crossover will be shorter than the 4,191 mm-long Audi Q2. Its engine lineup will comprise of new gen petrol and diesel mills displacing between 1.0L and 1.6L. A plug-in hybrid 'GTE' variant could give company.

As for the sixth generation Polo hatchback, it will make its world debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, and is expected to arrive in showrooms in Europe in the second half of the year.
