Hyundai ix25 1.6L turbo variant will go on sale in China in 2016 - Report

PC Auto reports that Beijing Hyundai will launch the 1.6 T-GDI variant of Hyundai ix25 (otherwise known as Hyundai Creta) later this year in the Chinese market, making it the most powerful variant of the SUV. It was unveiled at the 2015 Guangzhou Auto Show but has still not been made available for sale.

The turbocharged engine produces 118 kW (160 PS) and 250 Nm of peak torque, which is sent to the wheels via a 7-speed DCT. So far, the ix25 was available with a 1.6L MPI petrol engine producing 125PS and a 2.0L engine with 160PS. Transmission choices include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes.

To differentiate from the other two variants, the 1.6 T-GDI variant has a dual slat grille with chrome inserts, exclusive 5-spoke alloy rims, and twin exhaust tips tucked underneath the bumper. No exclusive changes have been inside the Creta 1.6 T-GDI.

In India, the Hyundai Creta is offered in both petrol and diesel variants. The Creta petrol is powered by a 1.6L (naturally aspirated) MPI engine, while the diesel variant is available with two engine options: 1.4L and 1.6L CRDi. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox.
