VW Ameo TDI spied testing yet again

A VW Ameo TDI has been spied testing on Indian roads, ahead of its launch expected to take place before the festive season. As of now, the Ameo is sold in its petrol variant, which is priced between INR 5.13-6.91 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).

As far as its exterior is concerned, the only difference with the VW Ameo petrol variant is the TDI badge on the boot

The Ameo diesel variant is powered by an updated version of the 1.5 TDI unit. Like the petrol variant, a 5 speed manual gearbox will be standard, while a 7-speed DSG will be optional in the Ameo diesel.

As far as the exterior is concerned, the only difference with the petrol variant is the TDI badge on the boot. The Ameo diesel variant will carryover the features from its petrol-powered sibling, which includes body-coloured bumpers, body-coloured door handles, body-coloured door mirrors with integrated turn indicators, single-folding rear seat backrest, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel, ABS and dual-front airbags as standard across the range.

The top-end Highline features cruise control, automatic rain sensing wipers, reverse parking camera and sensors, Climatronic automatic climate control, remote & power (one-touch) operable windows (open & close), leather-wrapped steering wheel with chrome accents and piano finish, leather-wrapped gearshift knob and touchscreen infotainment system with Mirrorlink connectivity. Safety features like Electronic Stabilization Program and Hill Hold control will be exclusive to the diesel-DSG variant.
