Gets larger alloy rims and a more rigid body construction.

At a Renault press conference in Brazil, Carlos Ghosn has unveiled three new Renault (Renault Brasil) models to launch in the next 12 months, one of which is the Brazilian-spec Renault Kwid. Later this year, it will be assembled at Renault's factory in São José dos Pinhais with SKD kits manufactured by Renault India.

While the styling of the Renault Kwid is largely identical to that of its Indian cousin, the underlying structure has been modified by Renault Technologies Americas to meet local safety regulations. It is around 130 kg heavier than the India-spec Renault Kwid, much of which is attributed to strengthening the body construction as well as other equipment. Also noteworthy is the Orange color of the hatchback; the color tone seems to be carried over from the Renault Duster facelift.

The interior is also likely to be identical to the India-spec model, complete with a 7 inch MEDIANAV display in the center console. For the Brazilian-spec Kwid, Renault has equipped dual front airbags and side airbags as standard in all grades, say reports.

Engine lineup will include flex fuel versions of the 1.0L and 0.8L three cylinder SCe engines, although Renault is yet to reveal the output figures. It will be paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. It's unclear if the Brazilian-spec model will offer the Easy-R AMT option.
