Facelifted model expected to be launched in 2017 with evolutionary design changes.

The current, third generation Skoda Octavia debuted in December 2012 and is nearing its time for a mid-life facelift. The facelifted Skoda Octavia is expected to go on sale in Europe in 2017 and a speculative rendering from Auto Express shows what it may look like.

The 2017 Skoda Octavia (facelift) will feature a new 9.5-inch infotainment system.

Going with the previous speculation, the rendering shows a comprehensive update for the Skoda Octavia's front-end. A more pronounced radiator grille, new V-shaped lower grille, reshaped foglamps, a restyled bumper, and most importantly, new split headlamps would form the new identity of the new Skoda Octavia.

On to the sides and the back, little would change as compared to the current Skoda Octavia. New wheel designs and tweaked taillight graphics are the key changes expected here. The interior will be updated with a new 9.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration functionality. The richness of the cabin may be increased with usage of more soft-touch plastics.

The mid-life facelift isn't expected to bring any key mechanical upgrades or changes to the Skoda Octavia. An electrified powertrain is unlikely to make it to the car in the current generation. The current three- and four-cylinder TSI petrol/petrol-CNG and four-cylinder TDI engines with displacements ranging from 1.0-litre to 2.0-litre are likely to continue being offered along with 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed DSG automatic and 7-speed DSG automatic transmission options.
