Market launch scheduled for August 23.
A 2016 Hyundai Elantra has been photographed at a dealership yard undisguised, ahead of its market launch on August 23. It will launch with both petrol and diesel options spread across five variants reportedly: S, SX, SX AT, SX(O), SX(O) AT.
The Elantra petrol will pack a 2.0L MPI four cylinder engine producing 152 PS and 190 Nm, while the diesel variant is powered by a 1.6 CRDi engine with 128 PS and 265 Nm of torque. A six speed manual gearbox is standard in both variants, while a 6-speed automatic is optional. Its average fuel efficiency is reportedly 22.4 km/L for the diesel MT and 14.6 km/L for the petrol MT.
The exterior will feature projector headlamps, ‘boomerang’ LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy rims, LED taillights, shark fin antenna, parking sensors. No changes have been made to the styling of the car, which draws inspiration from Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0.
The interior is completely black with embellishments of silver and chrome for a premium look, while the styling will look familiar to i20 owners. It comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support, satellite navigation, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, anti-pinch sunroof and start/stop button.
