Will debut later this month.

The Chevrolet Onix was introduced in 2012 and is about to receive its mid-life facelift soon. Chevrolet is testing the new Chevrolet Onix (facelift) in Brazil, and in the latest, an engineering mule has been spied in Campinas, courtesy autopolis. According to the Brazilian publication the facelifted Chevrolet Onix will be unveiled later this month.

With the facelift, Chevrolet will introduce the Chevrolet Onix Activ as the Chevrolet Onix's third derivative.

The spyshots suggest that the the facelifted Chevrolet Onix features new design radiator and airdam grilles, restyled front bumper and tweaked taillamps. The same changes will be applied to the Chevrolet Prisma, the Chevrolet Onix's sedan version. With the facelift, Chevrolet will also introduce the Chevrolet Onix Activ as the third derivative of the Chevrolet Onix. It's essentially a mildly rugged-styled variant of the Chevrolet Onix hatchback, in a similar way the Hyundai HB20X is created based on the Hyundai HB20. The Chevrolet Onix Activ will likely be differentiated from the Chevrolet Onix with factory-fitted roof rails and flared fenders, recent spyshots suggest.

Mechanical changes to be introduced with the facelift, if any, are yet to be known. The current Chevrolet Onix is available with two engines in Brazil. The base engine is a 1.0-litre four-cylinder flex-fuel unit producing 80 CV (58.8 kW/78.9 hp) and 96 Nm of torque or 78 CV (57.4 kW/ 76.9 hp) and 93 Nm of torque running on petrol. This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.

This engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, but can be had with a 6-speed automatic transmission optionally.
