Kia Picanto 1.2 LS launched in South Africa

Kia Motors South Africa has introduced the Kia Picanto 1.2 LS, which offers the bigger 1.2L four cylinder engine in the LS grade, thus bridging the gap between the base 1.0 LS and 1.2 EX models.

The 1.2 LS is powered by the same motor from the 1.2 EX grade; a 1.2-litre Kappa MPI engine producing 65 kW (87 hp) of power at 6,000 rpm and 120 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an automatic transmission is optional.

LS is the base grade in the Picanto's range. Its exterior gets body-colored bumpers at the front and rear, body-colored door handles and side mirror caps, and 14-inch steel wheels shod with 165/60 R14 tyres and full wheel covers. It doesn't get foglamps, indicators in the ORVMs, alloy rims and chrome plated door handles.

Inside, the 1.2 LS feature air-conditioning, tilt-adjustable steering, a trip computer, height adjustable headrests, 60:40 split rear folding seats and a luggage floor box. The Picanto LS is not fitted with a standard radio, but is equipped with two front speakers and an Aux/USB connection wired to work with an aftermarket radio unit.
