ASEAN NCAP have announced new crash test results for the VW Vento, which has just been launched in Malaysia. Note that the testing agency already crash tested the sedan, which was earlier known as the VW Polo Sedan, back in October 2013.

The Vento with ESC and Hill-Hold secured 5/5 stars in the ASEAN NCAP test.

ASEAN NCAP have not physically crash tested another unit of the car, but have applied their testing methods on the Vento, which is now equipped with ESC (Electronic Stability Control) and Hill-Hold when combined with the 1.2-liter TSI petrol engine, just like the Indian market model. When tested in October 2013, the Vento (Polo Sedan) scored 4/5 stars as it was equipped with 4 airbags and ABS only. Now, the Vento TSI scores 5/5 stars thanks to the addition of ESC.

The base variants of the VW Vento in the Malaysian market still retain a 4/5 star rating owing to the lack of ESC. The Trendline variant gets dual airbags and ABS while the Comfortline adds side airbags to the package.

In addition to ESC, the 1.2-liter TSI gets a 7-speed DSG, four airbags and ABS.

The Trendline and Comfortline continue to be powered by a 1.6-liter MPi petrol engine paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The Highline gets the 1.2-liter TSI with a 7-speed DSG.
