Maruti Alto 800 facelift spied inside and out; launch is days away

Demonstration units of the Maruti Alto 800 facelift have started reaching dealer yards, indicating that a market launch is merely days away. These spyshots show the exterior and interior of the Alto 800 facelift, listing all changes in tow.

With new offerings like the Renault Kwid and Datsun redi-GO breathing down its neck, a facelift couldn't have come at a better time.

Up front, the Alto 800 facelift gets new headlight clusters, a slimmer grille and a new bumper with a hexagonal airdam and provision for foglight enclosures. Aside from these changes and new color options, there are no other alterations to the exterior of the Renault Kwid-rival.

Inside, the dashboard layout continues unchanged though the music system, which would be offered on the top-end VXi grade, appears to be a new unit with USB and AUX-in compatibility. There appear to be minor changes to the door trim fabrics as well for a fresh appearance.

The 0.8L engine will continue unchanged on the Alto 800 facelift.

The Maruti Alto 800 facelift will continue using the three-cylinder 796 cc petrol engine (also available with CNG) which develops 48 PS and 69 Nm of torque, and is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Later in the lifecycle, Maruti could introduce its AMT (automated manual transmission) on the car.

The Alto 800 facelift is unlikely to see any update in pricing. It is priced from INR 2.57-3.78 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi, at the moment. A driver airbag is optional on all grades.
