6 Magical Things That Happen When You Drive Your Car*
Shrawan Raja, I'm the Founder & CEO of IndianAutosBlog.com. I love teamwork and talking about cars.
People who drive a lot are usually quite attached to their car, whether it’s a beat up old sedan, or a shiny, new Honda BR-V. Getting your very own car is something special and you’re probably familiar with everything about it, from the scratches and dents on the bumper to the fading smell of leather mixed with car freshener.
Over time, you develop little habits and rituals that make it nearly impossible to enjoy anyone else’s car as much as you enjoy your own. It goes with you to work every morning, makes memories of you and your friends painting the town red, and keeps your precious family happy and safe.
Here are some magical moments that occur that every car lover has experienced:
1) Hearing your favourite song on the radio
It’s one of the best feelings in the world. You can play your favourite track whenever you want, on your phone or YouTube. But if you’re lucky enough to come across a beloved song from your childhood on the radio, or one that means something special to you and your spouse, it feels like the whole universe is conspiring to make your day. You can’t help but turn up the volume and be delighted; it’s an automatic mood booster.
2) Finding a great parking spot
Whether it’s at work or in a packed marketplace, finding a perfect parking spot in a crowded city is worth putting on Instagram, or at least on Snapchat! Sliding your car into a legitimate parking spot that doesn’t even need you to double park or worry that your car is going to get towed, keyed, or stolen? Yeah, it’s the stuff of dreams!
3) Finding money you didn’t expect to
Just like you can come across money in an old jacket or a pair of jeans, sometimes you luck out and find some cash dropped under your seat or forgotten in the dashboard. It’s like a surprise present for yourself, as a little extra money is always welcome! Especially when the parking guy is banging on your window demanding small change!
4) Being the only car on a long, winding road
It could be a bright, sunny day, or a dark night with only your headlights across the horizon; there is something special about being the only car in sight. Though it may be fleeting, it makes you feel like you’re the only person in the whole wide world, and given our chaotic lives, can be a rare moment of bliss.
5) Driving a freshly serviced car
When you get your car back from the service centre and it’s super clean, well oiled, and running smoother than ever, it feels like an unstoppable beast! Even when you’ve just got the air in your tyres re-filled, you feel like you’re a few feet higher off the ground! The power seems to surge through you with every press of the accelerator and your bond with your car gets even stronger!
6) The car lover’s pride:
Whether you are with your wife, your kids, or your parents, it’s always incredibly satisfying when they start complimenting your car. Owners of the Honda BR-V would regularly hear, “It’s so roomy!”, “It’s so smooth!” or “It’s so beautiful!” Even watching your dog enjoying the air with the windows down, or fitting snuggly into his seat is always awesome.
After all, your car is an extension of yourself, and the car you choose says a lot about who you are as a person!
There are many such little moments of joy and familiarity that car lovers experience while driving, that non-drivers probably wouldn’t understand. Each of these moments, be it on a road trip with your family, a ride to office with your colleagues, or a drive around town with your best friends, can make any ordinary day, extraordinary.
