India-made 2016 Honda Brio, 2016 Honda Brio Sedan launched - South Africa

Both models get a facelifted front-end and new dashboard design.

Honda South Africa has launched the facelifted versions of the Brio and Brio Sedan for sale. Pricing for the 2016 Honda Brio hatchback ranges between ZAR 144,300 - ZAR 171,300, while the 2016 Honda Brio Sedan is priced between ZAR 157,400 and ZAR 181,600.

Both the Honda Brio and Brio Sedan get a remade front-end that comprises of a bold dual slat black plastic (chrome plated for Brio sedan) grille with an upright Honda logo, a larger radiator inlet, and faux intakes that house the round foglamps. While the side profile is identical to the outgoing model, changes at the rear are limited to updated taillight graphics.

The interior of both models feature a new dashboard design sourced from the Honda BR-V, and is accentuated with faux silver as well as a mix of matte plastic and piano black trim materials that add a premium feel to Honda’s entry level products.

The facelifted model introduces bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming, which was previously unavailable. Also standard in both models are safety/security features such as ABS+EBD, dual front airbags, front seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, central locking and an engine immobiliser.

The Brio and Brio Sedan continue to be powered by a 1.2L i-VTEC four cylinder engine that outputs 65 kW (88.37 PS) and 109 Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard, while a 5-speed automatic is available in the top-end Comfort grade.

The South African spec 2016 Honda Brio series doesn't get the EarthDreams CVT unit featured in the India-spec Honda Amaze.
