Debut at Paris Motor Show.

New spyshots of the next gen BMW 5 Series have surfaced online, revealing test mules with lesser camouflage, thus giving us a glimpse of certain features like the headlamps and some body panels. It's expected to debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show in October.

As seen in various renders and spyshots, the exterior will borrow styling cues from the bigger BMW 7 Series. It gets new LED headlamps (optional laser lighting) that directly flow into the larger BMW kidney grille with active ducts, and a long strip of ducts that also houses the foglamps. The rear-end has OLED taillamps and dual exhaust tips.

The next gen BMW 5 Series will be the second product to ride on the new CLAR RWD platform, which integrates carbon fibre into its construction. It will, reportedly, be 100 kg lighter than the current model, thus improving fuel consumption, acceleration and handling.

The 2016 BMW 5 Series will offer the latest B-family of modular engines, such as B47 diesel and B48 petrol 2.0-litre four-cylinder units, B57 quad-turbo V6 diesel and B58 petrol 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder units. There will also be two plug-in hybrid models: 530e and 540e, reportedly.

The top-end BMW M550i gets a 444 bhp 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, while the BMW M5 will equipped with same engine, but produces over 600 bhp. All variants will be equipped with an 8-speed ZF gearbox, while the M5 could continue working with a 7-speed M-DCT.
