After a couple of delays, Tata will finally launch the compact Tata Tiago hatchback on April 6. Here are 5 things we know about the Tata Tiago.

1. To spawn the Kite 5 compact sedan later this year

At the Auto Expo 2016, Tata unveiled the Kite 5 sub-4m sedan, which is basically a Tata Tiago with a boot. It is expected to arrive in the market later this year, and will be the third sub-4m sedan from Tata Motors.

2. Engine options

The engine lineup of the Tata Tiago comprises of a 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 85 PS and 114 Nm, and a 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine that develops 70 PS and 140 Nm. Both engines are completely new, and likely to be seen in future models. A five-speed manual is the only transmission option at launch.

3. No AMT for now

There will not be an AMT for the Tata Tiago at launch, but Tata officials have confirmed that an AMT option is in the works for Tata Tiago, which will be introduced later in its lifecycle. This will help rival one of the most popular options in the entry-level hatchback segment - the Maruti Celerio AMT.

4. Feature list
