Maruti sold 13,894 UVs in March.
In the March 2016 sales report, Maruti has listed a growth of 123% in the UV category (Gypsy, Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, S-Cross account for Maruti’s UV category) as compared to March 2015. This significant growth is fueled by the success of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the company’s first ever sub-4m SUV.
Prices for the Maruti Vitara Brezza start from INR 6.99 Lakhs to INR 9.68 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It is the company’s first-ever sub-4m SUV that competes against Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300. A compact, competitively priced SUV with a Maruti badge is certain to draw attention, which is apparent by the number of pre-orders they have received since last month.
It’s also well-equipped in the top-end ZDi+ grade, featuring a SmartPlay infotainment system, inbuilt navigation, reverse parking camera, engine starter button, cruise control, 60:40 split rear seat, projector headlights with LED DRLs and automatic headlights. A driver airbag is standard across the range, while a front passenger airbag and ABS+EBD are optional in lower grades and standard in the Z grades.
The only engine choice is a 1.3-liter DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine capable of 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. It is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission which sends power to the front wheels. The Vitara Brezza is capable of attaining a class-leading, ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 24.3 km/l.
